The Price

Dunno about how many know of these late '80's-early '90's pop punkers but man did they make some damn good music. Their 12" and two songs on the Underground Rockers Comp. put out by Link were top notch poppy punk. Am I on an island with this one? I think they were awesome.

  1. I saw The Price at Windsor Old Fire Station in 1989 I think. They were great only about 20 or so in the audience. They did a great cover of the Buzzcocks "You say you don't love me" I have their album "The Table of Uncles" which is great.

  2. Marky Dread, I too have the songs that make up the Table of Uncles and it is awesome. Funny how many bands that are worthy slip through the cracks. Their song Standing In The Way is amazing!

  4. Hi - Leigh from The Price here. Many thanks for the interest and the kind words - it's nice to know that a few people remember us! It's (gulp!) 25 years since we first formed so we're doing some gigs and hopefully some recordings this year, details are at www.theprice.biz

I remember playing at The Old Fire Station a couple of times including an acoustic gig in the bar (!) 'Underground Rockers vol. 2' was out around that time, then our second single 'So What About Love?' came out followed by The Table Of Uncles' a year or so later. Yes we used to play 'Turning Japanese, also 'In A Rut', 'Ever Fallen In Love?' and probably some others that I've forgotten... and we recorded a version of 'English Civil War' for a Clash tribute album called 'The Never Ending Story' which I believe is about to be re-issued - Paul Simonon gave it a good revue in a magazine at the time which I never tire of recounting (as you can tell!) And 'Vodka Cola was one of our very first songs, never recorded sadly.

Anyway there are a few memories - Let me know if you want any more!

    Cheers - Leigh.
