Ha! How many of you have this????? I do! I actually got this from someone that knew Sham from a forum that I used to post on. I cannot remember who gave this to me, so sorry if I cannot give props to the person. Sham 69 were/are one of my favorite bands around. This is album was supposed to be the album Western Culture or Hollywood Hero depending on where you live. What makes this soooo special boys and girls is that this album has Jimmy Pursey singing the same songs. Well actually there are a few different ones that appear here and not on the other two with their new singer. A Sham without Jimmy Pursey is something that is real hard to wrap your head around. Yep it is for me too. Just like From The Jam, or The Stranglers, it is hard to accept. Well the guy singing for the new Sham does a great job and with adding him has made Sham available to tour again. More power to them I say. SHAM 69!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've got it! The guy you got it off was Mumsie or something like that.
ReplyDeleteYou're right Longy! I forgot it was him. Well Munsie, thanks for this! This is real hard to fiind. I hope you don't mind if you come across this. I just wanted to highlight such a great release!

I agree...a Pursey-less Sham just isn't the same. Never heard these versions, but Jimmy's presence has to make 'em better. Thanks, Ken!
ReplyDeletethis is a great album, but its really a jimmy pursey solo album. he just did it to stick to dave parsons. but its still better than dave's sham with that new clown.
ReplyDeleteExcellent post! Much better than the Hollywood Hero version! But like you I do like the 'new Sham' live. Tim V does a great job there. Any chance of reposting it in better quality (and perhaps full covers)? 128 doesn't seem to them full justice... and as it's seems impossible to buy the album it shouldn't take away any sales for them anyway.
ReplyDeleteAnyone knows what happened to Jimmy's new band, Day 21?
These are Sham 69 demos recorded in Winchester, not the real album which was recorded at Olimpic Studios in London. The real versions still remain unreleased ! It was the last Sham 69 album recorded in 2006 featuring Jimmy Pursey, Dave Parsons, Mat Sargent & Ian Whitewood
ReplyDeletei bought a copy of this cd at there gig at hammersmith palais in 2006. it was of there merch stall. the cover says oficial bootleg. dont know how many exist.
ReplyDeleteI pre-ordered this back in 2006 never got, came across this site had a couple of problems downloading it but it worked eventually. THANK YOU SO MUCH I feel I finally have my purchase!
