Swingin Utters Brand New Lungs

Just wanted to let you all know that this is out. This is a fantastic little Ep!! They also have an album coming out and are playing some dates to support it. This Ep is more like their More Scared days.....I have been listening to this band since the mid 90's and this release is up to snuff like all of their other stuff!

  1. I just grabbed a copy of this, Ken, and I'm really digging it. I expected it to be good, but it's better than I had hoped. Of course, they've had about 7 years to work on it! Can't wait to hear the LP.

  5. Hey Kenny,

You misunderstood me... I was just kidding about the download link (didn't really want one) - I'm into supporting true punk music. So I've just ordered this online... BTW I met Greg the Swingin' Utters drummer at a punk show on some SF pier/wharf about 5 years ago (I was visiting SF from the UK) - you probably know the club, they have lots of punk shows. After the show I was stranded (I'd arrived by cab from my hotel in the Haight), cabs weren't keen to come out, he took me 10-15 miles out of his way and dropped me directly outside my hotel. Great guy & fantastic band!!

  6. Yeah did on the misunderstood....no worries. I really hope you like it. I think it is more like the stuff they did when they lived in Santa Cruz (pre Streets Of San Francisco). I know Greg pretty well and that sounds like something he would do. I hope your stay in SF was a fun one. Was the club called The Pound??? My old band, The Forgotten played with them alot. Love The Utters!!!!

  9. Yeah Kenny, it was The Pound. Pretty cool club. Ended up hanging backstage with the Exploited! Pretty funny as when I was a 16 year old kid (1980/1) they played in my hometown and smashed up the venue - the only punk venue for many miles around, which immediately banned all punk bands for ever more. I loathed them for that!! They had mellowed over the years, as they were pretty friendly (only the singer left in the band, though).

I liked SF a lot. Really enjoyed the Tenderloin (spelling?), everywhere really. Got a tattoo at Mom's Body Shop in the Haight. Nothin' wrong with it, but about 3 times as expensive at in the UK. In every other way I can think of, the UK is much more pricey. Maybe I shouldn't have been such a "tourist" and gone to a cooler, small place. Idiot!

    Cheers!!

  10. Funny that The Exploited have a checkered past here in San Francisco...Wattie smashed his mic stand into some young kids face at The On Broadway...1982??? Tenderloin huh? Rough area, but fun if you are looking for the seedier side of life....Yeah that city is fantastic. I live an hour south and have spent a lifetime up there gigging, going to gigs, drinking and just enjoying the crown jewel of the West Coast. Glad you had a good time there.

  13. Hey Ken, Just checking back on your blog. The comment from "anon" is pretty funny though. As someone who has a record label myself I've developed a thick skin and it's laughable that people think that even a band as well known as the Utters are coining in the loot off punk rock ("all bands want us to buy the shit"). It's a shite world and you got to pay to eat (unfortunately) but it seems many people who listen to the music don't have the common courtesy to want to give the small amount of support that buying a 7" from a band they like would mean. What goes around comes around & I am willing to bet that the above anonymous prick will still be living in his parent's basement, still have a 10 second attention span, and still be dis-satisfied with his meagre existence when he is 40 (I doubt the immature knob is anywhere near that age at this point). Keep up the great work with the blog!

  15. Thanks for the comments guys. I just wanted to be fair to the moron and let him or her have their say. I guess you can't please all of the people some of the time
