Fang-Spun Helga

By request here is Spun Helga. This actually is one of my more fave Fang releases!
Ken

Here is a review of the album:
This record has not only been undervalued and forgotten by fans, but lead singer Sammytown as well. Fang never plays anything from this album in live sets. Fat Bitch, Evil Runs Free, Dr. Eugene Scott, Tin Plated Iron Man, Honor Among Thieves & the hilarious Madonna are among the best songs the band has ever produced under any lineup. I have to believe that Spun Helga was never fully accepted by fans because it was the first record with the Landshark/Where the Wild Things Are lineup powered by the distinctive Tom Flynn guitar sound. It is also the most musically diverse and ambitious undertaking the band ever attempted. From the classical guitar sounds of Madonna to the funk intro to Fat Bitch to a cover of Tequila, this was a sound few of us were ready or willing to here. My friends and I loved this masterpiece when it was originally released, but we were clearly in the minority. The record is so forgotten that I can't find the real cover (the above was not it) anywhere on the internet. It was recorded by a ragtag bunch, including a drummer named Ollie who only appears as a stick figure drawing on the original insert, during a stay in Germany. There was a whole new lineup behind Sammytown on the vastly more appreciated A Mi Ga Sfafas, the next record. If you like Fang or any of Sammytown's other projects you'd be well served to find this.

  3. Guess you've already checked this years "Pissed Off Buddha" release of theirs containing "Spun Helga" + "A Mi Ga Sfafas?" plus this 1988 unreleased album. And as if it wasn't enough, they added a live DVD to it. How cool is that?
