Maybe Someone Knows This Tune?

Had a question from one of our friends out in blogland and was wondering if anyone out there could be of help. Seems that Antonio recorded a song years ago from a radio show but never knew who the artist was. It's not familiar to me but thought there must be someone out there that knows who this band is. We'll keep our fingers crossed.

  10. Hey Ken,

I CAN'T WAIT for your Sammytown interview. Did you ever see the "Welcome to Sammytown" documentary about him? Excellent short film. I always thought Fang stood head & shoulders above most of the bands of the day. They did their own thing, 100%. No one could ever accuse them of being a clone. Was always interested in Sammy from first reading about him in Flipside in around 1983, when he had the devilock. (There was a great quote in the interview, where he talked about some religious nut who accosted him on the street when he had that hairstyle and said something like: "do you know what that is?" "Yeah, a devil-lock". "Do you know what it represents?" "Yeah, the horn of the devil" "You should cut it off!" "I keep doing that, but it keeps growing back!"... cue religious lunatic running off down the street in shock, waving his bible). He's had some harsh shit go on, but he's still standing, and , what's more, seems a decent person, despite it. Fuck the people who judge from a distance. Anyway, if you post any Fang I would love to get the unreleased Pissed Off Buddah L.P., or the Hair Of The Dog 7" (from '98). The Resistoleros were an amazing band... too bad they split. And I love the Disciples (at least from what I've heard on myspace). Hope they manage to release something. Cheers from London!

  11. Thanks for writing SDP. I actually know Sammy personally. My old band toured with Fang, and I have seen them play loads of shows. In fact, his cellmate is a friend of my too. Sammy is a stand up person and I have respect for him. Saw the Disciples a month or so ago (opening for my old band too) and they were fantastic! Sammy and I have been talking about it and it will come around. I think I have to interview Jason from Social Unrest before him. Funny you mention the Flipside interview...I was going through some old Flipside's and I actually read that interview, it made my laugh! I don't have Pissed Off Buddah lp unfortunately. Now I want to hear it. And yes, they were there own beast here so to speak! Trivia, when my old band was touring with Peter and The Test Tube Babies, Fang did a whole slew of shows with us in the South West of The USA. Jim Martin from Faith No More played guitar for them. What was even more strange was that he did not ride in their van. He drove his converitble caddy by himself...strange.....

  15. "Fun Fun Fun (With My Machine Gun)" appears on Rat Music For Rat People Vol 3 as well as the Best of Rat Music CD from a few years ago. The Rat Music LPs are pretty easy find on the old blogosphere and have been re-issued on iTunes by CD Presents. I only mention the iTunes re-issue in the interests of full disclosure and in case anyone actually wants to give money to CD Presents. Given their track record of compensating the bands on their releases I'm not in a hurry to do so myself.

  16. I would not give money to CD presents. Read the interview in the latest copy of The Big Takeover, for an example of how they do business.

  17. Plank, I agree. The guy that owns CD Presents is a scumbag of the highest order. I posted earlier in the year that they were back in business good or bad. I posted The Avengers live album for all to take for free. I feel bad for all the bands that he has ripped off. CD Presents has live shows on iTunes with the likes of The Circle Jerks, Black Flag, The Mutants, DOA, Avengers, and many more. Thanks for your comments. By the way, The Big Takeover is the greatest music mag EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  18. Hi Kenny,
Thanks for the praise regarding The Big Takeover. I'm a writer for it and of course, a fan of it as well, and I agree. Anyway, I just happened to have the Two Black Eyes...and a Bloody Nose release.
