Social Unrest Songs For Sinners 7"

Well finally this is seeing the light of day. Great chugging along hardcore from one of the Bay Area's best from the early 80's. Most of you that visit the site know that I am a huge Social Unrest fan right?...see interview with Jason Honea. Well this three song effort is more like their pre Jason days and has original singer Kretin Chaos singing. Much reccomended

  1. Thanks for the heads-up on this. Hey, did i imagine it or did I read somewhere on this blog that you were going to do an interview with Sam McBride? Can't locate the reference though... would love to read it (and I enjoyed the J. Honea interview BTW). Cheers!

  2. Thanks for commenting, and sorry for the delay. My computer was on the fritz....Yep I am going to interview Sammy as soon as I have time. I might even get an interview together with Clifford of Blast! in the near future too. Thanks for the compliment on the Jason Honea interview, it was a lot of work on both of our parts as well as it was a lot of fun!

  3. Hey,

Thanks for the reply. I think Sammy has put out some of the best punk rock of all time - would love to read an interview. I'd kind of forgotten about Bl'ast... sounds really interesting, hope you pull it off. I love to hear how longterm punk rockers are doing, and if/how they are keeping up with punk rock. Back to Sammy - did his band the Disciples ever release anything or have they been caught in the thing where very few labels now manage to release anything due to free downloads? I understand they may have been selling CD-R's of their demos at shows at some point? Before it went tits up (to use an English expression) I was keeping an eye on them on myspace - and some of their stuff was among the best music he has ever been involved in. It's a great shame when killer music ends up languishing in some bedroom drawer and never gets a release. Sign of the times. Cheers!

  4. Yeah the interview with Sammy will happen. Not sure when though. Same with Clifford of Blast. I was out with my wife and her friends for dinner a few weeks ago and Clifford was with us (he is dating one of my wifes friends) and we discussed doing an interview, so that too will happen sooner or later. Saw the Disciples about 7 mohths ago in Santa Cruz. I was not even paying attention to their sound check etc. Thought they sounded great. Afterwards Sammy walked over to me and starting talking to me. It took me a minute to figure out it was him. My old band toured with Fang in 1998 and we have some mutual friends. Anyways it was really cool hanging out and shooting the shit. Sammy is a great guy for sure. We talked about doing an interview and I asked him if we could touch on his old situation and he was very forthcoming and said we can discuss whatever I would like. Again, he's very cool.
