Being the confirmed Damned disciple that I am I never think anyone covering their songs does a better job than the orginal. However TSOLs version of Politics is as good as the original.
I love this demo and it's got Darker my Love which is thee highlight of Suburbia.
Ken, I don't suppose you have the Vicious Circle demo?? Just been reading Jack Grisham's book and that re-ignited my interest in hearing it. Seems pretty hard to track down. Did you read his book yet? I thought it started out well, and he has a good writing style on the whole (and it was one of those rare books written by a "famous" person that you could tell they actually wrote themselves), but I thought it fell away and would have been much better as the original straight autobiography that he says he originally wrote, but then threw out. Not to get too detailed in case you haven't read it, but the lamest turn was when he get religion at the end(!!). He doesn't actually say it in so many words, but that's how I read it, and I'm sure how it's meant to be read. I don't mean it's lame due to getting religion in itself - each to their own - the book just seemed kinda pointless... after all the (clearly autobiographical) stuff he talks about (a good bit of it - uness exaggerated - pretty extreme) - then he just just reverts to type - I felt like I 'd read the memoirs of a California hippy, with a few added punk trimmings. Definitely NOT recommended! But would love to hear the VC demo one day - also your Sammytown interview, Cheers!
Rosco, I'd love to hear the Vicious Circle demo...I did not even know they recorded one! Yeah Jack seems to have lost his way in a sense....but I guess the saying goes...whatever get's you through the night..
I will goet to Sammy for an interview. I am pretty busy and I know he is with Fang, The Disciples, etc.
I am also going to interview Clifford from Blast as well. Thanks for commenting
Ken, Thanks for the reply. I for one would love to read a new Sammy interview. Yeah that VC demo has definitely leaked out somewhere. Been trying to find it on and off for years. It's out there somewhere in cyberspace that's for sure. Cheers for the blog, it's one of my faves
Thanks for posting this! I'd been watching the original post for the link & finally thought to check your main page. It sounds great! I've been listening to Who's Screwin' Who? all week so it's cool to hear some more stuff from that era.
