Generation X-The Idol Generation

By request Generation X's Idol Generation. An incomplete A & B side release that I highly rank. Even as an album it would be one of Generation X's best. As I have mentioned before, I am a HUGE fan of all things UK punk from the glory days of 1977-1979. Generation X have always been one of my favorite groups around. From their look, to their glamish punky sounds. They have always been a favorite in my music rotation. This comp. is just fantastic. Songs like This Heat, No No No, Trying For Kicks all could have been A sides...just amazing stuff here. Like The Rich Kids they just excelled at pop inspired punk and pulled it off. And just like The Rich Kids I wish that Generation X would reform and do some shows. I know they have tried once or twice and the end results were not too satisfying, but sometimes magic can happen again. I never got to see Generation X but would love to!!

  4. Ken - you're a genius! I never thought I'd find this album. I've had an 'auto search' on eBay for nearly three years and it's never even been offered for sale. Can you remember where you got it? Thanks as ever, FlashGT.

  6. Empire had some great ideas. I have the cd that was released about 8-10 years ago or something. Maybe I will post it.

Flash GT, I got the cd in San Francisco or Berkeley about 10 years or so ago. Suprised that it is so hard to find. Enjoy it folks!

  7. Nice post Ken. Gen-X are one of a few bands I never got to see as well. I had tickets to see them in 80/81 but Idol pissed off with Kiss' manager and that was that.

Fridays Angels has always been my favourite release, the B-side is amazing.

  12. Possibly worth mentioning what makes this album so important (for me at least!) : as far as I know it is the only CD release featuring studio versions of 'Ugly Rash', 'No No No' and 'Rock On'. Thanks again, Ken!
