Thought I would post a question about something that has been giving me problems for sometime. As anyone that checks out this blog knows I use Rapidshare for hosting my files and when possible downloading files. I have never had a problem with their service but for some reason Mediafire gives me great trouble. It used to work fine for me but within the last six months or so when I click the link to download a mediafire hosted file my computer freezes for about 5 minutes and then the download box will appear. While the computer is frozen nothing else will open. This only happens on the Mediafire links. I find myself now hesitiating to download anything hosted by Mediafire. Any ideas as to why this happens or has anyone else experienced it. Your help is appreciated.

I think everybody has different problems with different up/downloaders depending upon the software on their PC. A mediafire link froze on me once. but only once. I only dislike Rapidshare due to the limits on free downloads. As there are few obvious common links I suspect it's something to do with Ad/Pop-up blockers. All these links are plagued with Ads and if your Virus/Spyware software or Ad Blocker doesn't like something, it can cause PC freezes. My PC even hates some Blog sites - I can't hardly ever access Punk Business Manager for instance - it always crashes my PC!
ReplyDeleteAngry Graeme is pretty much right. I think your blockers are causing your computer to freeze up. One solution would be is to change the settings.

So it's not just me then. I was thinking of changing file hosts, cos I use mediafire for my blog. Technology, wonderfull when it works, but when it doesn't..........
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments. Any idea what settings I should look at? Was wondering what makes Mediafire different as I have used many upload services and it's the only one that gives me problems.

Only 'fix' I can suggest is this:
ReplyDeleteThis issue is fixed in the latest release of flash player.

Looks like Adobe was the problem. Thanks for your help!
