Tilt-Play Cell

Here we have a band that was a staple of 924 Gilman in the early 1990's. Fronted by one of the best female punk singers of alltime, Cinderblock, Tilt were just plain awesome! Imagine Janis Joplin fronting a punk band and you will get it! This release was on Lookout I think and then they moved to Fat. I always thought that they had a little X in them too.

  1. I must say that Cinder does have one killer voice...I'm not a big fan of many female fronted punk bands, but I dig her.

  2. She has that "it" thing with her voice. Real bluesy and such. I only saw them once and they were quite good!

  3. Puuhh, whats that Crap?
A "yodeling" Chick with a voice that is disharmonic to the (very boring) music.
This girl better wash dishes and should sing only under the shower. In case, I hope that she will not be my neighbour
    Thumbs down - Sorry

  4. Schellack thanks for the comment. Apples and organges I suppose. Me? I personally like them alot and think she is a great vocalist. But I also think Penelope (Avengers), Beki (Vice Squad), Exene (X) and Pauline (Penetration), Poly Styrene (X Ray Spex),Siouxsie (Banshees) are all good vocalist too. Just my opinion.

  5. Thanks for "Play Cell." I still have my Tilt shirt from the Play Cell tour with their sigs. I saw them several times and when they opened up for Green Day. I miss those days....
